Here is my general editing work flow or process for restoring an old photo:

• Adjust tone of image (shadows ,highlights, & mid tones ) as needed

• Remove & repair all, scratches, cracks, blemishes, spots, sun damage, water damage, tears, etc.

• Color correct image as needed- remove color casts, adjust color balance, etc.

• Enhance and sharpen the subject (s) of image if appropriate

• Blur and remove background noise where appropriate

• Level and crop image as needed

• Background replacement if desired

• Removal of unwanted objects if desired

• Resize and enlarge and save high resolution digital version (300 dpi JPEG) of the image suitable for print or canvas art

• Colorize black & white images If desired

• Free review and estimate: I will not charge or work on an image that is not a good candidate for restoration. I have found over the years that some old and damaged photos are just too far gone and don’t have enough digital details or resolution left to restore and enhance properly. Some photos may require major “reconstruction” which is very time consuming and not considered restoration. If that’s the case, I will let you know up front after evaluating the photo free of charge.  I will then also provide a no obligation quote to repair the old picture.

• In addition, images that have significant parts of the subject that are missing or obscured by major damage may not be suitable for restoration. This is a scenario I will let you know about when I review the images that have been uploaded.

Photo restoration pricing by hour:

• $45.00 per hour

• A minimum of $22.00 for first 30 minutes.

• Minor Damage: For photos that have minor damage and where the subjects faces are not severely damaged or missing major details, the process generally takes about 30 minutes. Contact me today for a free quote.

• Moderate to Major Damage: Every photo restoration job is unique, but on average, the majority of old photos I receive and work on have either moderate to major damage and take at least 1 to 2.5 hours to repair properly. I will let you know the estimated cost up front with absolutely no-obligation.

• For repair and restoration orders of 5 or more images I can offer a discount. Please contact me for a quote.

• I charge an additional $10 to colorize restored black and white images

How do I get started ?

• After you have scanned and digitized the photos you would like to restore I will send you a link to upload the images or you can email them to me. . • After I receive the images I will review and advise if any of the images are not suitable for restoration. At this time you can also share any specific requests you may have regarding any particular image. Examples: Remove an item in the photo that is distracting. Crop the image significantly. Remove and replace background, etc.

• After the images have been uploaded and reviewed I will send you a payment request & invoice via Paypal.com.

• After the restoration work has been completed I will share with you “before and after” versions of all images for final review on a private portfolio page on this site. See sample page here. At this time you can let me know if you want any changes or revisions. In general, it will take 1 to 3 days to complete an order.

• After you have approved the images I can either email them to you or send you a link to download your restored high resolution and enlarged images.
